Students Return On Time To Maury River

Lexington, VA— The wet months of June/July had many concerned about Maury River Middle School’s re-open date during the July 9 School Board meeting. With Labor Day just around the corner Maury River Middle School is ready for classes to begin on time, as promised.

 With the amount of rainfall this summer, there was an uncontrollable delay in the MRMS project. To meet the Aug. 22 deadline, MB Contractors had their workers on site for extensive hours, seven days a week. As a result of their diligent labor, teachers were able to return for workdays on their expected date.

 The substantial construction is complete and MRMS has passed Phase I inspection. Phase II is expected to pass with flying colors as well. Landscaping and other odds and ends of the finish work will be in progress while students return.
