Sweely Estates Winery’s Tasting Facility followed the construction of their Production Facility for this new Virginia winery just outside Charlottesville.  Constructed primarily with wood framing, natural stone and brick veneers, and composite slate roofing, the 18,180 SF, three-story hospitality center includes a tasting area, office suite, wine barrel storage, and wine library, as well as a full commercial kitchen and reception hall for winery and private events.  Specialty, high-end features include the exposed heavy timber wood framing, oak ceilings, exposed spiral ductwork, oak wainscoting, porcelain tile floors, brick columns with pre-cast concrete caps, wood/gas burning fireplaces, an elevator, blue stone steps between floors, and large pendant light fixtures to highlight the custom wine tasting bar and granite countertop. Seven air handling units, with digital controls, service the building.
