Executive Vice President

Mike is charged with managing MB’s preconstruction team.  He’s the primary point of contact and project coordinator during the bidding and preconstruction phase. He’s developed a strong knack for keeping projects within budget.

It’s no wonder – he’s estimated and assembled bids on various hard-bid and negotiated projects ranging from $100,000 to $100 million.

Mike first started in construction while working on his uncle’s farm during summers while in high school. He helped to build barns and dabbled in surveying.

That early interest led to a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Virginia Tech where he graduated magna cum laude. He’s also a Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in North Carolina and a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers.

He’s a guest lecturer at Virginia Tech’s Building Construction Department and serves on the Roanoke District board of directors of the Virginia chapter of the Associated General Contractors of America. Mike’s also a 2004 graduate of the Leadership Roanoke Valley program.

When he’s not leading the company’s preconstruction efforts, he’s focused on spending time with family – he also volunteers with Cub Scouts – though he gets to sneak out for some running, fishing and golf when he can.

Like the rest of the senior management team, Mike most enjoys working with MB’s hardworking people.
